The Hi Class environmental commitment is to ensure:
- All operations will be conducted in accordance with the relevant legislation.
- Responsibilities for environmental management are clearly defined and reviewed periodically by management.
- Initiatives and achievements are communicated to our customers, the workforce and the community.
- Identify, implement and promote best practices for environmental systems as they apply to Hi Class work activities.
- Hi Class utilise environmentally friendly products where possible and implement systems that minimize environmental risk as appropriate.
- Operate in an ecologically sustainable manner by increasing efficiency of operations and where appropriate reduce waste and the use of energy and resources in all areas.
- Comply with relevant Australian and State Environmental Legislation and initiatives – e.g. sort and recycle waste as appropriate.
- Work closely with its employees, subcontractors, suppliers, clients and the community to develop and implement agreed environmental initiatives.
- Set objectives and targets for minimising the environmental impacts on every project.
- Ensure all staff are aware of their responsibilities relating to environmental management and that each employee/contractor has, and maintains, the appropriate level of competency.
- Provide refresher training via site inductions and toolbox meetings to reinforce Hi Class’s environmental standards.
- Include Environmental Issues as part of all Contract Reviews.
